From Effect to Cause

For some time, I have been suggesting to people that we not call or write the Administration and Congress to object to war plans, but simply go directly to the corporations, banks and significant equity investors who are determining policy.

In terms of the war in Iraq, some of us may be interested in contributing to or aggregating a list of the companies, banks and investors (including foundation and university endowments) who will most benefit from the war (links, notes and citations on how they will benefit are welcome) with the name of the Chairman, and key board members and investors with address, telephone and fax number for each. Information on the law firms and lobbyists who manage the flow of day to day instructions from puppet masters to political appointees and legislators is also useful.

With such a list we can shift our calls and letters from the White House and Administration to the people behind the veil -- ideally moving steadily closer to the real decision makers and "controllers.".

Over time we should be able to evolve a "cui bono" estimate of the total stock market value generated by military occupation and control of Iraq and allocate it among those most responsible for using taxpayer resources to generate private profits.

As Utah Phillips once said, "the planet is not dying. It is being killed. And the people killing it have names and addresses." More than a few members have suggested that they would welcome a list of the names, addresses and phone numbers in connection with the War on Iraq. Rather than dead-ending at the traditional places, lets start calling the real decision makers or the people who are doing their bidding. Let's make sure their friends and neighbors know who they are. Just because there is no law does not mean that we can not send them to "Google prison." Google prison is where you go to have the "real deal" of your activities illuminated. For an example, go to Google and type in "Pug Winokur." Ever wonder what Pug's neighbors and family think about learning about the real deal on Pug?

If anyone is interested in taking the lead on aggregating such a list, or a part of it, let me know and I will forward interested people and information accordingly. We are all quite busy taking care of our immediate responsibilities, so let's only do what is energizing and comfortable.
