I heard him here a few months ago and was blown away - definitely check him out if you get the chance. Hope you're well. As always, thank you for the great articles! peace, Emily Splitting the Sky May, 2003, California Speaking Tour From a background of orphanages and boarding schools, Splitting the Sky emerged as a principal leader of the Attica rebellion at the age of nineteen, and later became active with the American Indian Movement. With the publication of his long anticipated memoir, From Attica to Gustafsen Lake, Splitting the Sky reveals the definitive inside account of the Attica uprising and its horrendous aftermath, takes us behind the scene at Gustafsen Lake, Canada's own Wounded Knee, and provides us with invaluable insight into the late 20th-Century struggles for peace and justice and Native American self-determination. At his upcoming lectures in California, he will be discussing issues as diverse as: the real world implications of the Patriot Act and the intensifying war on "terrorism"; indigenous resistance to colonial oppression at home and abroad, environmental racism and corporate exploitation in Indian country; the Attica rebellion & its significance in North American revolt history, and more.
